FAQ

Brain, neurodiversity, special interest

What are the fees and how do I pay?

The fee for a standard counselling session  is $240.00. Payment will be billed the day of your session. A payment method (credit card or interac debit) on file is required.  You will receive an invoice via email that you can submit to your health insurance/benefit provider for reimbursment.

Is direct billing offered?

Yes, I can direct bill several insurance companies (those through Telus eClaims, NIHB,  and Blue Cross). Before scheduling an appointment, I recommend contacting your insurance provider to verify your coverage details. If direct billing is not an option, you will be responsible for paying for services upfront and seeking reimbursement from your insurance provider. I am registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists and my services are covered by most benefit providers. Receipts will be issued for insurance and tax deduction purposes

How long are the sessions?

A standard “therapy hour” is considered 50 minutes with 10 minutes reserved for documentation and other administrative duties. Shorter and longer sessions are available as well. A 50-minute or longer session is recommended for your first one.

What is the cancellation policy?

48-hour notice is required for cancelling or rescheduling your session. Notice provided less than 48 hours in advance and no-shows will be charged the full session fee. I recommend opting into the appointment reminders through your online booking site account. I created several options including text and/or email reminders 2,3,5, and 7 days before your appointment.

Can I do virtual sessions if I reside outside Alberta?

I am licensed to practice in Alberta only. I cannot provide psychological services to individuals outside of Alberta.

The Mind Place is located in the City of Calgary, known as 'Mohkinstsis' by the Blackfoot people. We recognize that our operations unfold on the stolen and unceded territories of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta. This region includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (comprising the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations); as well as the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3. The Mind Place expresses deep gratitude for the enduring wisdom of these communities, spanning across generations, both in the past and into the future.
